The Buttery Fundraising CD Caution Life Ahead background:
A more than impressive list of top recording artists are contributing rare or previously unheard tracks to a fundraising CD to raise money for The New Buttery building project. On behalf of The Buttery and patrons of this project David and Gillian Helfgott we would like to extend our gratitude to Rick Grossman, SONY BMG, Julie Brooks for pre production assistance and of course contributing artists for their extremely generous support, Rick Grossman gives a background to this CD:
“I myself went through the Buttery in 1987 and have been in recovery since. After many years of heroin addiction, I have had a great life since then. Even though I had a great music career before ( DIVINYLS , MATT FINISH ) I believe without the Buttery's intervention , my career would have stopped and I most probably would have lost my life. I have since been a member of HOODOO GURUS for the last 20 years and have played with many other great Australian artists in that time, something which would not have happened without my recovery.
Addiction touches us all in one way or another, unfortunately in Australia there is a lack of treatment facilities like the Buttery. Expanding The Buttery’s treatment facilities will be a significant step to more places being available for addicts to get longer term , quality treatment and help reduce the waiting time for those seeking treatment.
SONY BMG has agreed to release an album compiled by myself of Australian artists. The idea was for a collection of songs that were either unreleased or rareities to make it more than appealing to people’s good nature knowing that their purchase will make a charitable contribution as well as knowing that they are buying something special for their collections. We also hope that the publicity and good will generated by the music industry through this CD will further highlight the devastating impact of addiction on society on and the need for more treatment facilities to deal with it .
